Guests enjoying a resort vacation at La Posada Resort and Spa near downtown Santa Fe, NM will enjoy the Native American culture of New Mexico and the work of local artists and artisans. The resort has unique adobe guest rooms and a full-service spa and fitness center. Guests can walk to historic downtown Santa Fe and numerous restaurant, shops and Native American street vendors. Golf, hiking and skiing are within a short drive from the resort.

Guest Rooms, Fitness Center and Spa

The guest rooms at La Posada borrow heavily from the The quiet rooms have thick adobe walls, round pine beam ceilings and rustic tile and wide-plank wood floors. Southwestern style furnishings are of heavy wood furniture and dark leather. The rooms have wood-burning fireplaces complete with dry split logs, kindling and matches. The beds are comfortable, warm and cuddly with down comforters, silky sheets and pillow top mattresses.

The fitness center and spa at La Posada are full service and are nicely appointed. The fitness center has both cardio and weight equipment. Locker rooms are well equipped with showers and all of the necessities for grooming after a workout. Both the men and women’s locker rooms have eucalyptus steam rooms. The spa offers hair and beauty services as well as massage and other relaxation services.

The Resort Gardens and Grounds

The grounds and clustered adobe buildings of La Posada Resort provide an ambience reminiscent of old New Mexico. Paths wind between the adobe buildings and through beautifully landscaped gardens. A variety of native New Mexico plant specimens appear in the gardens. Even in winter, the berries and dried foliage left from summer make for interesting horticultural viewing. Tall, mature trees provide shade and perches for local bird species. Indigenous rocks and boulders provide visual interest.

There are numerous benches and chairs placed throughout the gardens. The New Mexico sun is warm and a garden bench is a good place to sit while enjoying a steaming cup of coffee on a crisp November morning. A multi-level fountain surrounds the fire pit on the main terrace. At night, a fire burns in the fire pit.

Local Art on Display at the Resort

The reception areas and guest rooms display paintings and artworks attributed to local Santa Fe artists. Inside the main entrance is a large impressionistic-style painting of the mountains when the aspen leaves are changing color in the fall. The gardens also show case local artists. Sculptures appear to rise out of the garden near the main terrace. A multitude of silently twirling copper wind sculptures, created by a local artist, dots the gardens.

Getting To La Posada

Travelers fly into Albuquerque and take a shuttle to Santa Fe. La Posada has a complementary shuttle service to transport guests to and from attractions within the Santa Fe city limits. However, a rental car is necessary for day trips to attractions outside of Santa Fe.

La Posada is a perfect resort experience for travelers who are looking for a relaxing, out-of-the ordinary vacation. Santa Fe’s romantic past and the Native American culture of the region combined with the ambience of La Posada make for a complete vacation experience.
